Desiree van den Bogaard

Desiree van den Bogaard (b.1966, The Netherlands) is a photographer based in Breda. She graduated from the Fotoacademie Amsterdam. In her photography, van den Bogaard shows us recognisable, ordinary spaces, focusing on the seemingly meaningless reality and the parts of life that are initially unseen and often ignored. The meaning of these scenes is then renewed, reflecting on her work’s larger exploration of themes of temporality and inevitable transformation. The series “They Stayed” shows the daily environment of an elderly couple who still live at home “in their own paradise”, even when the pandemic-stricken world is in lockdown.
