Jedidja Smalbil

Jedidja Smalbil (b. 1996, The Netherlands) is a photographer based in Groningen. In 2018, she graduated from Art Academy Minerva with a BA in Fine Arts. She mostly focuses on cinematography and analog photography, using medium and large format cameras. She calls her work 'after-images' or 'desolate man-made landscapes', suggesting a memory or a narrative. Finding imagery in the mundane, Smalbil depicts domestic environments, intimate interiors, and notions of fragility and sensibility. The size and material use of the works vary between passport photographs, prints on fabric and life-size darkroom prints
