Jendrik Schröder
GERMANY
Jendrik Schröder is a photographer, director and videographer based in Berlin. He studied Communications at the University of the Arts Berlin, Film Studies in Stockholm, Photography at Ostkreuzschule Berlin and holds a MA in Philosophy & Arts. In his interdisciplinary work, he aims to translate philosophical ideas of phenomenology, contemporary aesthetics and Daoism into his artistic practice. His work focuses on the phenomenological and de-objectifying portraiture of the ordinary in a soft and quiet way – waiting for the object to reveal itself rather than forcing a rational intention on it. This silent gaze allows the objects to speak back to the artist – and subsequently to the viewer.
