Lidia Sharapova

Lidia Sharapova (b. 1982, USSR) is a Milwaukee based Russian-American photographer. She recently graduated from the School of Modern Photography Docdocdoc in Saint Petersburg. Lidia uses documentary photography to explore issues of social identity, gender, minorities, and small communities.Photographing LGBTQ people of Milwaukee, giving them voice and visibility, Lidia is trying to push back on gender norms that were put on her while growing up. She believes in the power of photography to change and empower people.
