Max Barel

Max Øien Barel (b. 1996, Norway) is a photographer and artist based in Oslo. He recently graduated from the Oslo Fotokunstskole, and in 2021 will commence his BA in Photography at the Valand Academy of the University of Gothenburg. His practice looks at the way in which we perceive information and sensibility through images, often through an exploration of a dysphoric and dream-like state, leaving his work in a place which is both bizarre and familiar. The series “Collective Fallacies” looks at images as a tool for clarity, while searching for beauty in the sometimes mundane reality that confines us.
